Exclusive interview with Nigerian/Port Harcourt based artist – JayDany

As it has been our culture, 9jasoundtv has a sure way of bringing to you, Nigeria’s latest songs and gist about your favorite A-list celebrities. Today, we have an exclusive interview with one of Nigerian/ Port Harcourt based artist “JayDany”.
We caught up with him and he shared with us some of his achievements, plans and what he is currently working on…

Can we meet you?

I’m JayDany, a Nigerian afro/alternative-pop musician and music producer/director base in PH city.

For how long have you been in the music industry?

Been making music almost all my life. Music has been an inseparable part of my life since the age of 7. I started as a church drummer, then got to forming my first band/group at the age of 17. That’s when I actually wrote my first song, God can.
My first album(Purposeful) was released in 2008.
So, you can say that it’s been a while.
I’ve directed a couple of choirs/productions too since 2005 till date.

What inspired you?

I’ve been inspired by some great minds and personalities both in the music industry and by life’s experiences generally speaking. Most importantly, my inspiration comes from God, the giver of great talents (which music happens to be one of them) It’s always been fascinating each time I sit down to write a song, knowing how much lives I can reach with the power of my music.

Tell us about your style/genre of songs

I do mostly afro/alternative-pop. Giving more attention to my root(African). The fact being that no one else can do us like the way we do us as Africans.

Tell us about your label or Management

I’m signed to an independent label and management called CRIPTONX. It’s probably one of the best record label I’ve seen in recent times, with so much passion and resolve to create and bring quality content and expertise to the Africa entertainment industry. Amazing team to work with.

Do you have any special features, that you think would stand you out in no due time?

Sure, we live in an era where music seems to be losing it power(Lyrically) So much attention has been given to the beat of a song, more than the lyrics in the song.

I think this is where I’m different. Every of my songs definitely must have a strong message and rhythm. That’s what I always ensure it happens each time I set out to write any song.

I perform live too (live band), A rare sight you hardly find with most musicians lately.

Who are you looking up to in the Nigerian Music Industry

I have respect for some great musicians from the shores of Nigeria and globally. First on this list will be my all-time favorite music icon and legend, Bob Nesta Marlay. Followed by one of Africa’s finest voices, 2Baba. Fela, Asa, Cobhams also fall in this category.

In the next 3 years, where would you love to see yourself?

I just hope to be bringing out great music, touching lives with my sound.

I hope to be doing great music basically. Learn more, become a better musician. More songs, more videos, more collaborations and all.

What are you currently working on?

I’m working on releasing a new single next week (31-5-2018)

It’s gonna probably be one of my best efforts so far. The title of the song is SMILE.

Truth is, times are hard. There are days you feel life is no more worth living. A song like SMILE will give you a thousand seasons why you should keep moving even when you’re tired of moving.

SMILE is a song of hope, assurance and believe that everything’s gonna be OK.
